Clause 1: General information, not advice

The content on this website is general information about insurance and construction contracting in South Africa. It is not financial advice and it does not take your particular needs, objectives or circumstances into account.

Nothing on this site should be relied on as a recommendation to take up, change or cancel any policy. If you want advice about your own position, contact us. Advice is given by a representative acting under our FSP licence, after a needs analysis, and is confirmed in writing.

Clause 2: The policy governs

Cover, limits, exclusions, excesses and conditions differ between insurers and between policies. The policy wording and schedule issued to you determine what is actually covered.

Where this site describes a product, that description is a summary written in plain language. It is not a substitute for the policy document, and it does not list every term, limitation or exclusion that applies. Full terms are available from us on request.

Clause 3: Quotations and acceptance

Any quotation, estimate, calculator result or indication of cost on this site is subject to underwriting. Acceptance of a risk is at the insurer's discretion.

Premiums depend on the risk presented, including the contract, the value and period of the works, the site, the nature of the work and the plant involved. A premium cannot be confirmed without a full submission, which is why our tools give estimates rather than prices.

Clause 4: Currency of information

Legislation, contract forms, statutory thresholds and regulatory limits referred to on this site change from time to time. Examples include CIDB tender value ranges, JBCC contract editions and COIDA requirements.

We keep our content under review and date it where we can, but you should confirm current requirements from the relevant authority or from your own contract before acting on anything you read here.

Clause 5: Your contract comes first

Where this site describes what a contract commonly requires, that is a general pattern and not a statement about your agreement. Your signed contract or subcontract determines what you are actually required to hold, produce or maintain. Read it, and ask us if a clause is unclear.

Clause 6: External links

Where we link to third-party websites, documents or tools, we do so for convenience. We do not control that content and we do not endorse it. Following an external link takes you outside this site and outside our control.

Speak to us about your own circumstances before making a decision. A short conversation about your contract is usually the quickest way to find out what actually applies to you.
